A little Christmas in July (well nearly)....

..ho ho ho, a little Christmas banner coming up!

Talking about July, next Thursday the 1st is my birthday, if you look at my profile it will tell you how many years ago it was that I was a babe in my mother's arms!!

I let my 100th post and two year blogaversary pass and I'm nearly at 200 posts AND nearly 200 followers!! How on earth did that happen? I live a very ordinary, some might say boring, life. I'm honoured and humbled that so many lovely people take the time to see what I'm up to!! That so many of you leave caring and supportive comments, honestly I feel that I've known you all for years! Thank you...
I decided that I would have a giveaway to celebrate my birthday, it's always nice to receive but it's especially nice to give too!
I have some little things from Sew it Together that I thought one of you would like and I'll add some other bits and pieces through the week, it's a special birthday for me so a special giveaway prize is called for. Next week, on my birthday, I'll give all the comment numbers for June to Mr Random and see who he spits out. That's it, no hoops to jump, no posting to do, no following for more chances and certainly no twittering (always sounds like an aviary)! Just me sending somebody something to say thanks for putting up with me for so long ;o)

xxxxx

p.s. I would just like to say congratulations to our new Prime Minister. I was a very proud woman watching Australia's first female Governor General swearing in Australia's first female Prime Minister! A small moment in history for our young nation...
Go Julia.........

What a day.........

A couple of weeks ago I left a comment on Sheri's blog and won her new book! I know, how lucky am I?

(photo's from Sheri's blog, it's way too dark and horrible to take photo's today)

It arrived today, I haven't had much time to look at it yet but tonight I will be sitting in front of the fire, feet up, perusing.

Thank you Sheri, I can't wait to try some of the recipes too! Oh, didn't I tell you that each quilt has a recipe :o) As soon as the weather breaks enough to give us some light, I'll take some photo's to show you..

This morning we had a storm pass through our area, at about 9.30am the wind whipped around, picked up things and put them in different places!! The wind change brought us a snow shower, icy temps and a wind chill factor around -5!!!!

This water tank belongs to our neighbor a kilometer away, it traveled across the road, smashed the fences, demolished trees and came to rest against some of our Wattle trees. The other one carried on across the rail line into the paddock on the other side!!

Our 120 year old Cyprus trees suffered too....

Gum trees down..........

..and trees and shrubs blocking the driveways.

He Who Works had to stay home and do some cleaning up so that we could actually get out of the driveway (and so I could get to my patchwork group-priorities you know!).

Some better photo's and a Quilt Show.....

I finished Merryn's raggy quilt the other day and the rain is finally holding off for long enough to take photo's outside ...

...still not very bright, but at least the colours are a little closer to reality..

..it still needs a good shake I think, there are still some threads on there.

I took this outside today too, the colours of the fabric are much better....

I started quilting this last night curled up in front of the fire, I'm using Perle thread, size 20, so not too thick..

..but it will be much quicker than quilting cotton. I do like the softness of the Perle thread and of course the speed!!

Today my friend Karen and I went to the Daylesford Quilt Show, put on by the Spa Quilters, fabulous little show for a fabulous little town...

This is 'Nearly Insane' by Jill Sutherland.

..Also by Jill Sutherland...

I'll have to show you the rest tomorrow, so many fabulous quilts, far, far too many for one post..
